Have you ever dropped your Nintendo Switch or bumped your joy-cons too hard or just worn them out and they won't latch anymore when you plug them in? Well majority of the time, the little plastic piece hidden on the backside of the joy-con rail has worn out and needs replacing and lucky for you there's a solution!

PRINTING

I ran some tests printing with PLA and PETG because those are the only filaments I currently have and found that PETG worked the best for integrity against the metal where it locks into. Took a lot more force and smacks to break the release lock compared to the PLA one and I'm sure there's stronger filaments you can use to improve it too.

You will want to orientate this model so the side with the hole is facing up and have build plate supports. This will make the lock stronger being printed this way.

Print settings:

Nozzle: 0.2mm

Filament: PETG

Layer Height: 0.15mm 

Infill: 100%

Supports: support on base plate only

I printed at 60% speed since the piece is pretty small but depending on your printer you can experiment with how fast you want to print it.  

Don't forget there are different locks for left and right joy-cons.

Assembly

The replacement is very simple to do; if you look up DIY  joy-con lock repair, there are tons of well done videos that can walk you through replacing it.
